Hi again, I've got a few minutes to mess with this rambling. I will try to clear up some of the confusion of the parts needed to replicate the Original Chambers Oven Safety System. Here are the parts used by Chambers that are still available. You will need the Oven Safety Valve-Robertshaw #1720-007. It is priced at Patriot Supply for $96.32 You may scrounge for the two separate parts that make up the 1720-007 and save some money. These 2 parts come on Ebay regularly for cheaper prices. They are The Robertshaw #11 safety body (Robertshaw #1710-126, $16.76 at Patriot Supply) and The Magnet Head (Robertshaw #1720-801, $80.93 at patriot Supply)

The Pilot that Chambers used was the Robertshaw #1800-100, $35.28 at Patriot Supply. So, The two main parts needed are the Safety Valve #1720-007 and the pilot #1800-100. The total of these is $131.60 . I would estimate that the rest of the parts needed would be less than 20 bucks because it's only tubing and a handfull of fittings. I'll be back soon with more ramblings.

Jenn, The thermocouple can be bought locally at Lows or Home Depot. I haven't got the # on this "Universal" thermocouple. It needs to be 24" long, 36" would be better. Regards, Sam

Here is the catalog discription of the Robertshaw #1800-100 Pilot that Chambers used in their Original Oven Safety System:

You will also see the #1885-100 which is a fine substitute for the original. The #1885-100 costs 48.58 at Patriot Supply.

Stoveman, I'm kind of confused. On Monday night, your post about pilot parts seemed so clear that I immediately placed my order with Patriot supply. (Yes, I'm a bit over eager sometimes!) Patriot didn't even carry the 1880-100 you mentioned in your very first post, so I thought maybe it was a typo.

I ordered part #1800-100, and it matched the price you mentioned ($35.28) so I was feeling pretty good about it.

Today, though, your new post still says 1800-100 at the top, but the catalog page you put up is of part 1880-100, and you mentioned that 1885-100 also works.

Did I just mess up and order the wrong part?

I really don't have a good enough understanding of gas stove plumbing to be able to know what I'm looking for, so I wouldn't recognize if I ordered the wrong thing. Now I'm worried. Help?

    -Jenn

Hi Jenn, Yep, I am very confusing! But, We're OK. The 1800-100 is a universal pilot that is the replacment for the 1880-100.

So to recap, The major parts needed for the Original Chambers Oven Safety System are:
    1720-007 Safety Valve
    1800-100 Pilot Asmembly
    1970-036 Thermocouple

I have double checked these numbers before I hit the enter key.

Electrical power is not needed. Works on natural or propane gas.
